Scholarships

Love history? Check. Looking for college funds? Check. The Greater Kent Historical Society (GKHS) offers two (2) annual scholarships, awarded every June.

One of the scholarships, for $500, will be awarded in memory of past GKHS President Norm Turner.  The other scholarship, for $1000, will be the second annual award honoring long-time Kent residents, Ralph L. & Elinor J. Osness.

Both scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors in the Kent School District.  The recipients must intend to pursue higher education at a two-year or four-year college during the 2011-2012 academic year.

The criteria for selection are listed on the application itself and include: academic achievement; evidence of abilities; and involvement in furthering the discovery, preservation and dissemination of greater Kent area history.
