A long time ago, before Puget Sound was carved out by glaciers, when the mountains were young, and when the ancient forests were just seeding, the First People inhabited this land. Before European contact, the Native Tribes included the dxdewabS, (Duwamish - the Inside People) from Seattle to Kent, the sUupabS (Green River People - Auburn to its headwaters) and the spalkoabS (White River People - from Auburn its headwaters). We acknowledge and honor those who were here before European contact whose land we now live on.
