We participate in the Museums for All program, a national program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain free or reduced admission to more than 1,200 museums throughout the United States simply by presenting their SNAP EBT (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Electronic Benefit Transfer) card.
Public Transportation
Metro Bus stops for routes 160, 162, and 168 are located on Smith St. close by the museum (stop ID 62220 and 62212). King County Metro provides ADA accessible transportation. See their website for more information.
Parking
The Museum Parking Lot is in the rear (north) side of the Museum property on East Temperance Disability parking for a wheelchair lift equipped van is available.
Museum Access
Visitors enter the Bereiter House Museum through the front door, located along E Smith St. Additionally, there is an ADA compliant ramp from the grounds to the front porch. The wheelchair access door on the far side of the porch to the left of the front door.

The GKHS Bereiter House Museum is proud to welcome all visitors. It promotes the philosophy of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) for all, including visitors with Disabilities.
Walking Grounds Outside
There is a walking path, that is accessible to wheelchairs from the parking lot to the house. On the grounds there are several outdoor exhibits that visitors will not want to miss. Benches are located throughout the grounds. There is a self-guided tour pamphlet available.
Interior:
The interior of the house is staged in early 20th Century furnishings on both the first and second floors, as well as interesting objects on the enclosed back porch of the house. Additionally, there are rotating exhibits telling the stories of local people and places. Visitors are welcome to use the seating distributed throughout the house. The public bathroom is located on the first floor and is ADA Accessible. Some of the 1st floor doorways and passages may not be accessible for some wheelchairs. Access to the 2nd floor is limited to the stairs because this is a Historic designated dwelling. Self-guided tour information is posted throughout the museum.
Additional Support:
Service dogs are welcome. Museum personnel will provide exhibit description upon request to blind and low vision visitors. The museum’s online videos are captioned through YouTube.
